Did you participate in an internship?

I worked as an intern for PwC in the summer of 2015.  My primary task was to help our clients manage their responses to crisis situations. My MIS courses were extremely useful in preparing me for this position because they gave me a solid foundation in developing business solutions and programming.

What was your favorite MIS-related course at A&M?

My favorite MIS course was ISYS 250 – Programming Logic and Design. This class was my first programming intensive course. Although it was extremely challenging, I formed a thorough understanding of programming logic and design, which has helped me learn even more programming languages. This course helped give me the confidence necessary to succeed in my future career.

What do you feel was the most beneficial course you took?

The most beneficial course I took at Texas A&M was MGMT 466 – Strategic Management. In this course, we learned how businesses form competitive strategies and how different business functions (IT, marketing, finance, etc.) are needed for a company to be successful. I enjoyed this course because of how relevant it is to every company wanting to compete in today’s market.

Describe your career and what led you to finding your first professional job.

I have chosen to pursue a career in forensic technology consulting. I am excited about my job because it will be a blend of problem solving, interacting with people, and technology. After completing an internship with PwC, I realized that I loved this field and am looking forward to going back!

Any specific advice you would give to current MIS students?

I would encourage any current students to complete an internship! Taking the information that we learn in class and applying it to real life situations makes the classes more relevant and interesting. Also, you will have the opportunity to discover your passions and know what you want to do after graduating!
