Ask not what the world needs. Ask what makes you come alive… then go do it. Because what the world needs is people who have come alive.
Howard Thurman
I’m sure you are familiar with the butterfly effect. Wikipedia describes it best as the sensitive dependence on initial conditions, which just intensifies the unassuming and subtle importance of what are seemingly “chance” happenings. One of these “chances” in my life was the Abbott Family Leadership Conference.
Go ahead, check out the website… I’m the webmaster. And it looks as good as it does thanks to my dear friend Bill Erickson. (more…)

This morning started out with 2.5 hours at the Rudder-Jessup House (the B&B), where I’ll now be doing some marketing, in addition to the cooking and cleaning that I have done in the past. I’m excited about the possibilities, and sitting in on a meeting for all of the Bed and Breakfasts in Brazos County was pretty interesting last night. (more…)

It is always sad when the world loses an artist; it is especially sad when we lose a young artist with a life full of potential. As I was publishing my last blog, I realized that I failed to mention the awful news: my teenage heart-throb, incredible actor, and Academy Award nominee Heath Ledger is dead.
At first, when I heard the news yesterday, I thought someone was playing a prank on me. Surely not, said I, surely this is a foul trick played upon me…unfortunately, my friends, the news is all too real. News reports are still coming in, but at the moment, it is looking like suicide or accidental overdose. He was 28. (more…)

Hello, readers! My break was pretty uneventful, so let’s just skip to the current happenings of my life…wait, what life? It’s my last semester at A&M; why am I busy ALL THE TIME?!?!
This semester has been hard and heavy for me, and it’s only the second week of classes. It’s not that I’m taking a ton of classes—15 hours is the average class load—and it’s not that my classes are way too difficult—with the (grimace) exceptions of INFO 305 and MGMT 466. (more…)

So this Christmas was by far different than any I have ever experienced. It all started off with finishing up finals and making my way around Texas to see much of my family. I went to see them well before Christmas because I knew I was going to be spending the Christmas holidays in Mexico at the orphanage where I spend many of my weekends working with Full Hearts, an organization you are familiar with if you have ever read one of these by me. Ten days.
Four cities.
Twenty-two Aggies.
Thirteen graduate schools.
Planes. Trains. Business Casual.
Sunday morning, January 6th my dad dropped me off at the Houston airport where I would meet up with some of my fellow Aggies to embark on a fast paced, action packed trip that would take us to most of the major cities in the northeast to visit some of the top law and business schools this country has to offer. So, one break ended and another began.
Here’s the scoop on me:
-I just got back from Waco, where 5 of 6 family members got to eat together at Rudy’s BBQ (Dad’s favorite) and catch up on life…very fun. (more…)

In case I haven’t made it clear before, College Football has played a major role in my life.
So, it only makes sense that the weeks surrounding Christmas are my favorites for television, littered with various bowl games from all over the country.
It almost goes without saying that I was in attendance at the Alamo Bowl, but it was an extra special treat to be surprised with the opportunity to also attend the Armed Forces Bowl on New Years Eve in Fort Worth, Texas. (more…)
