Prepping for Summer

Monday, May 24th, 2010

After a week of house repairs, I’m ready to start my internship in New York City. I’ve been in and out of College Station. Since summer session has yet to start, it is pretty deserted here. I’ve been going to Home Depot almost every day. I even ventured in to Bryan to check out the hardware and flooring stores there.

Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe

Monday, May 24th, 2010

Do you remember when you were a kid and it was so easy to make a decision? You simply made the choice that sounded the most appealing and then moved on with life. There was no weighing of options or looking at the long-term effects. It was simply eeny, meeny, miny, moe… (more…)

Extreme Home Makeover

Thursday, May 20th, 2010

After 2 years of living in a sorority house and 1 year of living in a dorm … I’m finally moving into a real house in the fall.

It is a 3 bedroom house and I’m living with my best friends that I’ve lived with since freshman year. We lived across the hall from each other freshman year and  in the sorority house together. So basically, after we graduate, we will probably have some major withdrawal symptoms.

Anyways, before I leave for New York City, I need to get the house ready for my friend that is living in my room during the summer. I don’t have time to paint, move in furniture, clothes, etc. Thus, I’ve been spending the last few days fixing up the house. The last tenants left some large marks on the walls – so almost everything has to be repainted.

Home Field Advantage

One of the last steps in the accounting internship recruiting process is the office visit. So far I have had eight interviews on campus. They weren’t so bad in part because they were in Aggieland. Now the tables have turned. The firms invited all of the recruits to come visit their offices and have a few more interviews. This past week I had five interviews, but the process was surprisingly fun. (more…)

Don’t understand my reference, check out this youTube video for the song by Alice Cooper.
How do I know this? Am I into hardcore oldies? Nope … But it’s a song off Rockband.

“It’s a Great Day for Taxation”

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

At the beginning of the semester I wrote a blog about my tax class and how I thought that it was going to be very boring. After finally finishing the class, I can confirm the subject was really dry. For some reason I didn’t find myself curling up to my tax book late at night like some students did. This being said, my favorite class this semester was tax. How can this be possible you might ask? Easy, I had Professor Nixon. (more…)

Junior year coming to a close …

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

Wow. This semester has gone by so fast! I feel like I always say that … but it’s true!

I’ve been participating in some end of the year events recently:

There were senior wills for my sorority – which only puts into perspective, how soon all this is going to be over! And also how I might have a casual breakdown as these have been my best friends/roommates/family for my entire college career. Yes, very cheesy and sentimental, but true! (more…)

Chris’ Video Blog: Austria and Lantern Hike.

This post is filled with danger! I got to go Canyoning, mountain biking at night, and have an authentic Austrian dinner. Enjoy!

Canyoning and Lantern Hike

This summer I was blessed by being able to take the Marketing Study Abroad Program through Mays Business School. We traveled throughout Europe learning about local cultures, international business and the world we live in. This video blog documents our experience and gives you some insight into the adventures we had, the things we learned, and the relationships we formed

Update: Football and My Fellow Man

Tuesday, May 4th, 2010

Mike Sherman makes me proud to be an Aggie and an American.

I wrote a post at Thanksgiving about the petty-turned-real divisiveness that football brings about between students doing basically the same thing at different universities.  At the time, I was miffed that someone in maroon was yelling to “BTHO Texas” while one of their players was being carried out of Kyle Field on a gurney.  Sherman’s text message from Baghdad to someone reporting at Aggie Athletics made me want to extend a hearty gig ‘em his way.  (more…)

Antics and Antiques

Monday, May 3rd, 2010

If there’s anything that can get my imagination reeling, it’s an inexpensive, eclectic secondhand store or garage sale.  Although antique shops occasionally fall into my mix of favorite places, they’re usually a bit pricey for my tastes.  What really gets me going is finding a treasure disguised by dust, or laying eyes on one person’s trash that fits right into the room of my dreams.   Whether in  the bust of a peasant woman that became my necklace stand or in the $3 green glass lamp that rivals a $98 version at Anthropologie, I really enjoy surrounding myself by things with stories.
