Howdy,
My name is Hayrelyn De Jesus and I am a sophomore Accounting Major at Mays Business School. I just wanted to start off by giving you some background information so you can get a feel for what my life is really like.
I was born in Houston, Texas in 1986. I graduated from Kempner High School in Fort Bend ISD. My family currently lives in Sugar Land, Texas and consists of my dad, my mom, and my little brother Nathaniel (13.) Both of my parents were born in the Dominican Republic, so I am first generation American.
At Texas A&M I am a part of the Legendary Lambda Alpha Chapter of Sigma Lambda Gamma National Sorority Incorporated. I am the fundraiser chair and the social chair for my sorority. I am also the Vice President-Internal Of Mays’ Hispanic Business Student Association. This Friday, I have an interview for a summer internship in Houston-I’ll let ya’ll know how that goes!
I also have a part time job as a coordinator for the Texas A&M Reads and Counts Program. I work about 10 hours a week at an elementary school and I really enjoy my job. I obtained my job through the federal work study; a form of financial aid.
I currently live off campus in an apartment with three of my sorority sisters and there is never a dull moment at my place. I would say that I live a pretty busy life, but I love it and I am enjoying every bit of what Texas A&M has to offer me.

Howdy hayrelyn!
I read your blog and it’s awesome that you are an accounting major. I’ve been looking into going into accounting as well at MAYS. I was just wondering about how the classes were and how you liked it. Let me know if you can. Shoot me an email. Take care!
Emily.
