Center for Executive Development
For more than 50 years, the Center for Executive Development (CED) has provided management training for organizations in a variety of industries. Housed in Mays Business School at Texas A&M University, our goal is to create customized educational programs for executives that will help organizations and their employees get positive results.
At the CED, we do more than offer cookie-cutter management programs. We have a comprehensive selection of programs and instructors, enabling us to design a program that fits the needs of your company.
We build each of our programs around these basic principles:
- The value of education
- Practical application of theory
- Continuous improvement and innovation
- Complete client satisfaction
Our approach
- Comprehensive — Our staff can develop the program parameters for you. Yet, we want you to be completely satisfied with every module. That’s why we will work with you to analyze and evaluate the program at every stage—before, during and after. Our goal is to provide you and your employees a program that fits your organization’s needs.
- Customized — There may be certain segments of a program that are suitable for one of your organization’s teams, but need modifying for another. We can assist you in that decision-making process to create a program that’s appropriate for your various management teams.
- Relationship Oriented — Because we focus on hands-on, practical applications, we expect that you will see results immediately. Your team will return with new skills, a broader perspective and a greater appreciation for one another. It’s possible the day-to-day stresses may encourage them to fall back into their old ways. But we will work with you to develop a follow-up program to ensure ongoing, long-term success.
Customized training opportunities
The CED designs and provides a wide variety of educational programs for single-sponsor or multi-sponsor groups. These may vary from one-day seminars and workshops to in-depth programs spanning several weeks.
One example of the CED's customized educational programs is the Law Enforcement Management Institute, a program that focuses on the general management development portion of the full Graduate Management Institute. The three-week program, conducted four times per year, prepares law enforcement professionals from across the state of Texas for advancement into management responsibilities.
