Consistent with these objectives, the mission of the Department of Accounting is to achieve excellence in accounting education by providing the highest quality instruction and cirricula in all of our academic programs, intellectual contributions, and professional service. Our accounting faculty are distinguished instructors and scholars, who are extensively published and nationally recognized for their accomplishments. A number of them hold leadership positions in professional organizations and serve on editorial boards. A detailed discussion of the program requirements are to be found within Mays' PhD Handbook, Texas A&M University's Graduate Handbook, and Texas A&M University's Graduate Catalog. Students should be aware of the policies and procedures contained in these documents as well as the PhD program in Accounting requirements that are incremental to the above documents. Financial AssistanceFinancial aid is available in the form of teaching and research assistantships, which allow for a waiver of out-of-state tuition for non-Texas residents. Assistantships are usually awarded for the full academic year, subject to fund availability. In addition, a limited number of fellowships are available for exceptionally well-qualified students.
