How to Get an Intership / The Search

We understand that securing a great internship is important to you and your future. That’s why the MS/HRM program team is available to help you with the process. But, finding a great internship is also largely up to you — how much time and energy are you willing to put into the process?

Questions?
Contact the MS/HRM program team if you have any questions about the internship process.

Here are some key things you should know and do when beginning the hunt for an internship:

Attend Program Orientation: Prior to the start of the fall semester, both first- and second-year students attend the MS/HRM Program Orientation. During this orientation, first-year students will learn about the internship process and the importance of using a variety of job search strategies. And, second-year students will provide a review of their job search and internship experiences.

All companies that come to campus to interview go through GBCS. The GBCS office, along with the Texas A&M Career Center (located in 209 Koldus), also hosts a variety of workshops and provides resources on résumé building and the job search process.

Keep a current résumé on file: The Center for Human Resource Management (CHRM) compiles students’ résumés in a résumé book. Résumés are then distributed to employers who are looking for HR employees. The center has numerous sponsoring organizations that place many of our HRM students in internships with their companies.

Stay in touch with the MS/HRM program team: The program team will inform you of interviewing opportunities as they arise. If you hear of companies seeking HR students, you should also keep the program team informed. The team is continually looking to form relationships with organizations that could potentially hire our HRM students.

Here are a few other avenues to explore when searching for an internship:
