Program Admission

In addition to the University admission requirements, a review of each applicant is conducted by the departmental Doctoral Policy Committee and the college Graduate Instruction Committee. This two-step process insures that only the best qualified applicants will be admitted into the program.

Admission is open to all qualified persons who hold bachelor's and/or graduate degrees, regardless of the course of study pursued in those degrees. The review process includes an assessment of the following factors:

Undergraduate and graduate records of study

Scores on both the verbal and quantitative sections as well as the total score on the Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) or the Graduate Record Examination (GRE).

Other factors relevant to predicting succession the proposed graduate program; for example, published articles, research or work experience, and letters of recommendation.

Limited resources and facilities may dictate that only higher ranked applicants be granted admission. For instance, faculty qualified to supervise research in the applicant's area of interest should be present on campus.

Admission to Texas A&M University and any of its sponsored programs is open to qualified individuals subject to the above conditions regardless of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or educationally unrelated handicaps.

This test is administered by the Educational Testing Service in over 200 centers around the world. A registration form and a Bulletin of Information for Candidates, which includes test dates and locations, may be obtained at the TOEFL Web site.

Admission to the University is conditional upon acceptable TOEFL scores and successful completion of the English proficiency examination. The application deadline for all international applications is March 1 for the Fall semester.
