PhD Student Recognition
We have a commitment to developing a strong doctoral program and recognizing the outstanding contributions of our doctoral students. An indication of this commitment is the institution of the Doctoral Student Teaching Excellence Award and the Doctoral Student Research Excellence Award. Each year, winners receive a plaque and a cash award at the departmental awards luncheon. To facilitate doctoral students becoming effective teachers, the department also works closely with the Texas A&M University Center for Teaching Excellence. Every semester the Center for Teaching Excellence offers a number of one-day seminars designed especially for doctoral students. The department encourages and supports doctoral student participation in these seminars.
