Biography
Dr. H. Alan Love is a professor in the Department of Information and Operations Management and in the Department of Agricultural Economics at Texas A&M University where he has been on the faculty since 1992. Dr. Love holds a doctorate in Agricultural and Resource Economics from University of California, Berkeley; an M.S. in Agricultural and Applied Economics from University of Minnesota and a B.S. with High Distinction in Agricultural Economics from University of Kentucky.Prior to joining TAMU, Dr. Love spent four years on the faculty of Oregon State University and three years as an Economist at Data Resources, Inc, in Lexington, MA. His research focuses on issues relating to the industrial organization of domestic and international markets, market power measurement, mergers and acquisitions, mechanism design, contracts and auction markets, e-commerce and the effects of government regulation and policy on agricultural trade, agribusiness and natural resource industries. His teaching responsibilities include graduate courses in quantitive methods, industrial organization, managerial economics, and auctions and e-commerce, and supervising and advising Ph.D. and M.S. students.
Recent publications include papers in Journal of Econometrics, Journal of Economics and Management Strategy, American Journal of Agricultural Economics, Applied Economics, Empirical Economics, and Journal of Applied Econometrics. Funding to support Dr. Love's research comes from the USDA and industry groups.
Dr. Love has previously been awarded the Quality of Research Discovery Award by the American Agricultural Economics Association and the Texas A&M Agriculture Program's Vice Chancellor's Award in Excellence for a Research Team.
