Biography
Curtis L. Wesley II is a currently a 4th Year Doctoral Candidate in the Department of Management. He currently teaches MGMT 466, the Capstone Strategic Management course for the Mays Business School.
His research interests include corporate governance, social entrepreneurship, and strategic human resource management. His work is published in Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice (in press) and is under review at the Academy of Management Journal and the Strategic Management Journal. His dissertation is on stewardship and its impact upon firm performance and how family ownership and director characteristics influence this relationship. A form of his dissertation is currently under review for the Kauffman Dissertation Fellowship Competition.
Before pursuing his PhD, Curtis was a Naval Officer and winged Naval Flight Officer serving in the Maritime Patrol community. After his flying tour with the Patrol Squadron SIXTEEN (VP-16) War Eagles, he reported to the United States Naval Academy to serve as a Diversity Admissions Officer where he and his team set admissions records for diversity and enlisted accessions. He also served as an Ethics Continuum Instructor and taught Freshmen Human Resource Management & Organizational Behavior in the Department of Leadership, Ethics, & Law. Curtis continues to serve our nation as a senior HR officer in the Navy reserve.
Upon his departure from active duty, Curtis joined Citigroup as a Marketing Management Associate in the Credit Card SBU. There he managed alternate marketing channels in the private label gas card business and served as the program manager for the United States Auto Club retail automobile club membership business in the CitiCards Cross-Sell SBU. Curtis ended his tenure at Citigroup as Vice-President and Operations Manager in the Inbound Collections department of CitiCards Operations SBU and joined our department as a Ph.D student.
