Biography
Adam Myers is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Accounting at Mays Business School at Texas A&M University. He teaches upper-level and graduate taxation, ethics, and financial accounting courses. Mr. Myers served as a member of the Texas A&M University Faculty Senate and its Executive Committee, Legislative Affairs Committee, and Planning Committee. He served as leader of the Mays Business School Faculty Senate Caucus and as a member of the Mays Business School Executive Committee.
Mr. Myers is a Certified Public Accountant licensed by the State of California, and is an attorney licensed by the State Bar of California.
He is a graduate of Harvard Law School and of Penn State's Honors Program in Accounting.
Mr. Myers worked as an independent auditor in the Philadelphia office of PricewaterhouseCoopers. Subsequently, after serving as director of accounting for public companies, he served as the appointed chief deputy of the elected City Controller of Philadelphia, PA. He also served as a member of the Philadelphia Board of Pensions and Retirement and as a member of the Philadelphia Gas Commission. Mr. Myers is a founding member of the Philadelphia Chapter of the National Association of Black Accountants.
After law school, Mr. Myers practiced corporate finance law and business transactions law at major law firms in California. Subsequently, as a solo practitioner, he advised individuals and small businesses in accounting and tax issues, and served as a neutral commercial arbitrator for the American Arbitration Association.
Mr. Myers held law faculty positions at Valparaiso University School of Law and Penn State Dickinson School of Law, teaching courses in accounting, taxation, corporate finance, business organizations, business planning, securities law, commercial law, and trusts and estates. His articles published in academic periodicals relate to legal aspects of the accounting profession, and were cited by state and Federal appellate courts.
