Biography

Dr. Kratchman joined the Texas A&M faculty in 1977. Prior to coming to Texas A&M, he taught at The University of North Carolina at Greensboro and worked in both public accounting and private industry. While at Texas A&M, Dr. Kratchman has taught both the undergraduate and graduate advanced financial accounting courses, basic financial accounting principles for master's students and principles of financial accounting for undergraduate students. He is responsible for developing the graduate level course in advanced financial accounting.

His research interests include financial accounting theory, accounting for business combinations, and the behavioral implications of accounting information.

Dr. Kratchman has received numerous awards for excellence in teaching, including two Distinguished Teaching Awards from the Texas A&M University Association of Former Students. He has received awards for outstanding service to the Mays College and Graduate School of Business and a Teaching Excellence Award from the University?s Beta Alpha Psi Chapter. Dr. Kratchman has been the faculty advisor to Beta Alpha Psi since 1987. He has also received two Certificates of Merit for papers presented to the National Association of Accountants.

Dr. Kratchman has been involved as a volunteer in the Bryan-College Station community where he has tutored sixth grade math students for several years at a local intermediate school. For more than two years he has been a volunteer co-host for a jazz music program broadcast over the local PBS station located on the campus of Texas A&M University.
