L.R. Martindale teaches Money & Capital Markets, advises undergraduate finance majors, and represents the Finance Department in the Faculty Senate and a number of committees and task forces. He formerly co-directed the Eisenhower Program in the George Bush School. He has volunteered in the past as an academic advisor in the Corps of Cadets and an attorney with Student Legal Services. Before joining A&M's faculty, he practiced law and accountancy and gained teaching experience in various branches of business, economics, and law. While in private practice he consulted in the areas of public finance, accounting systems, and capital budgeting, and assisted other attorneys with expert witness issues in banking and financial reporting. Before entering private practice, his professional focus as a commercial banker was on credit quality assurance. He has helped write and enforce lending policies and procedures and managed a variety of complex lending relationships.Prof. Martindale recently co-authored the study guide and supplements accompanying a leading textbook on financial markets and institutions. He has lectured outside the classroom at the Armed Forces Leadership Conference and the Mays Business Fellows Program.
During his leisure time, Prof. Martindale is a Civil War enthusiast, an amateur financial historian, and a reasonably accomplished cook. Students will find him highly accessible, but will also find him easier to reach through e-mail than through voice mail.
