Biography

Dr. Groth received his Ph.D. from the Krannert School, Purdue University. He also holds degrees in physics and in industrial administration. His teaching awards include the Association of Former Students "Faculty Distinguished Achievement Award in Teaching," the Association of Former Students "Distinguished Teaching Award, College of Business," and twice, the College of Business "Outstanding Teaching Award." He serves in the Mentors program.
He has authored numerous publications and has been cited as a major contributor to the literature. His papers have appeared in the Journal of Finance & Quantitative Analysis, Journal of Portfolio Management, Journal of Financial Research, Management Decision, Journal of Consumer Marketing, Managerial Finance, Management Decision, Financial Executive, Financial Analysts Journal, Financial Management, The Financial Review, The Journal of Accountancy, Research & Technology Management, Journal of Consumer Marketing, The Journal of Product & Brand Management, The C.F.A. Digest, Journal of Economics & Business, Creativity & Innovation Management and other journals. He has presented papers at international and national meetings.

Current research interests include: the value creating cycle; risk-resolution, time, and capital commitment; special issues in valuation such as the exclusive value principle and critical factor amplification effects; conceptual issues related to pricing; paths to discovery; opportunity assessment techniques; stimulating and focusing creativity; innovation; trend analysis and implications for businesses; and the integration of behavioral factors in pricing.
Dr. Groth serves as a consultant and expert witness in the areas of corporate finance and management education. He serves as faculty in executive development programs conducted by Texas A&M; and conducts in-house programs for corporations in a variety of areas including finance and accounting, capital investment analysis, and creativity.
Dr. Groth served as a line officer in active and reserve status in the U.S. Navy. He was commanding officer of: Naval Reserve Special Warfare Engineering Support Unit; COOP Technical Development Unit; a Naval Reserve Research Unit. He also was chief engineer and department head on a destroyer. He retired with the rank of captain.
