Wait List/Forcing Policy
The Department of Marketing forces graduating Marketing majors into MKTG 448 (Marketing Management) only when all sections are full. Forcing in this instance is not determined by a student’s schedule but by the needs of the Department. All other MKTG classes are at capacity and are not open to waitlist or forcing.
Students will need to keep checking the registration system for any openings as they become available. Students are constantly adding and dropping courses through the first week of classes. The marketing advisor is available to help students review their degree plans and identify alternative classes.
Work schedule
Should a student’s work schedule conflict with their class schedule, it is the student’s responsibility to make their work schedule accommodate their class schedule.
Registration restrictions
It is the responsibility of the student to ensure that course prerequisites are met. Course prerequisites are listed in the Texas A&M University Undergraduate Catalog, as well as the online registration system by clicking on the CRN. Students who have failed to meet the prerequisite for a marketing course will be dropped from that course during drop/add week.
Should a student receive a registration error during registration, the student can click on the CRN of the course to determine what registration restrictions have been placed on the course. If the restriction is not stated, then the student may need to contact the department for the respective course in which they are trying to register or consult the catalog to find out what the restrictions are.
For questions regarding non-marketing courses, students are encouraged to contact the respective department of the course. For example, if a student has a question regarding a management class, then that student will need to contact the management department, the music department for a music class, and so on.
Enrollment in Mays undergraduate classes is restricted to Mays students only. Non-business undergraduates are only allowed to take business minor classes. For marketing, this would be MKTG 409.
Graduate marketing classes
For questions regarding enrollment in the graduate marketing classes (level 600), students need to contact the MS-Marketing Program’s office at ms-mktg@mays.tamu.edu.
