Internship Elective Credit
Marketing majors can earn three hours of marketing elective credit through an approved internship and co-enrollment in MKTG 484. The Marketing Department does not place students in internships. Students have to search for and secure their own internship.
Prerequisites are as follows:
(1) Course Restriction: MKTG major. Course Prerequisite: MKTG 321.
(2) Internships must be 300 hours of work during a single semester, and no more than 20% of work may be clerical in nature. Work must be related to marketing in areas such as sales, store management, advertising, merchandising, TV/radio/magazine production, website or graphic design, event planning, or social media.
(3) Students should review the syllabus and writing assignments for MKTG 484. Both are available under Course Content, Internship Information folder, in the Marketing advising class on eLearning called Mays Marketing Mix.
Alternatively, students can access this information through Howdy. Simply access the current schedule of classes through the Howdy portal, search for MKTG 484, and click on the syllabus to review it as well as the writing assignments. The latter is contained in the syllabus document.
(4) For approval and course enrollment, please complete and submit the MKTG 484 application to the course instructor, Kelli Hollinger, in the Center for Retailing Studies in Wehner 201D by the following semester deadlines.
