MS/HRM Degree Plan FAQ
When should I submit my degree plan?
Masters students must complete and file their degree plans with the Office of Graduate Studies prior to registration for their third semester* (or they will be blocked from registration). Students may check howdy.tamu.edu to see when their degree plan is approved.
*Note: Registration for summer semesters does not count toward the number of semesters you have registered for. But, if you are blocked from registering for the fall semester, you will also be blocked from registering for the preceding summer semester.
May I submit my degree plan after the published deadline?
Yes, but OGS cannot guarantee that late submissions will be processed in time for graduation.
How long does it normally take for OGS to process degree plans?
Processing time depends on when the degree plan is submitted. If the plan is submitted near the published deadline for the semester, processing can take 6-8 weeks. Degree plans submitted at other times during the semester can usually be processed in 2-4 weeks.
How many hours are needed on my degree plan?
MS/HRM students must complete a total of 38 hours. If any business core Common Body of Knowledge courses are required, however, the number of hours will be higher. Visit the Curriculum section for more information.
How should I list courses on my degree plan – alphabetically or by course number?
You can use either system as long as your ordering system is uniform.
What do I need to do if changes are needed AFTER my degree plan has been approved?
Once your degree plan has been approved, any changes must be requested by submitting an OGS petition form. Your signature, together with those of the MS-HRM coordinator and the head of the Department of Management, are required on the petition.
Where can I go for help in completing my degree plan?
Start with the MS/HRM program coordinartor Ryan Zimmerman, in the Department of Management. The Graduate Catalog and a copy of your transcript are also useful. You can also access the Graduate Student Handbook online. If you still have questions, contact the OGS staff at (979) 845-3631 or ogs@tamu.edu.
