Leadership Initiative Conference (LINC)
Through partnering with Regional Prospective Student Centers, the Bustos Leadership Initiative Conference (LINC) invites undecided, admitted high school students to visit Mays Business School and connect to the opportunities and resources they would engage with as undergraduates. Through the weekend, LINC delegates hear from some of the finest faculty members, grapple with team challenge activities and build a framework for understanding the core business competencies.
These “LINC delegates” stay in dorm rooms with students who have volunteered to host the recruited students. After the inaugural 2015 conference, 52 of the 66 delegates (comprised of 82 percent from underrepresented ethnic groups and 22 percent first-generation students) confirmed their acceptance and enrolled at Texas A&M University. The 2016 conference was comprised of 55 percent from underrepresented ethnic groups and 53 percent first-generation students and increased the program from a one-night to a two-night conference and from 66 delegates to 86 delegates. Applications from all interested students are reviewed, but invitations primarily target first-generation and underrepresented student populations.
