The Communication Lab began in 2008, funded with seed money from Ernst & Young, the Mays Business School Center for Executive Development, and the Mays Business School Full-Time MBA Program, and is part of Business Undergraduate Special Programs (BUSP). Initially connected to a single undergraduate business course, the Communication Lab was restructured in 2011 and now provides resources for all Mays Business School students. Starting with one administrator, three business communication consultants, and a part-time program aide, the Comm Lab adapted its methods and rebranded its services to become the trusted resource it now is.
Even with its rapid growth to more than twenty staff members, the Communication Lab has maintained its emphasis on people. The Comm Lab is here to help the person behind the paper, as each student learns to strengthen their professional voice.
