Amber is a writer/producer from Los Angeles with over a decade of experience in film and television. Before joining Texas A&M University, she served as head of development for film and TV at Creative Control. She earned her MFA in screenwriting from Chapman University and continued her education through Sundance and Upright Citizens Brigade. Along the way, she studied under prominent screenwriters and showrunners, such as Barry Blaustein (COMING TO AMERICA), David Ward (THE STING), and Jessica Sharzer (A SIMPLE FAVOR).
Her short film, SNOWBALL, won Best Film at the Black International Film Festival and was nominated for Best Comedy at the College Emmys. Other award-winning projects include BUZZ KILL, NORTH COUNTRY, and THE COOKBOOK.
Her background in education spans two decades, and Amber is equally passionate about teaching and mentorship. She previously worked with the California College Chancellor’s Office, focusing on outreach to underserved communities. Additionally, she served as a mentor, academic advisor, and lecturer, leading workshops and seminars at institutions throughout California, such as Chapman University, CalArts, and Loyola Marymount University.
Recently, Amber ventured into narrative podcasts and has written for Pocket FM in addition to other platforms. She continues to consult and write for clients, including Top Dawg Entertainment, Comet Pictures, Roadmap Writers and more. When she’s not writing, she enjoys competing in trivia nights, watching rugby, and trying new restaurants
