Sandra Buzon-Vargas is a Ph.D. student in the Department of Information & Operations Management of Mays Business School at Texas A&M University. Before joining the Mays Ph.D. program, Sandra received her Master’s degree in Business Administration from the National University of Colombia and her Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of the North in Colombia. She also served as a business consultant and a project manager, implementing business process management (BPM) technologies for companies in the financial and mining sectors.
In her research, Sandra uses empirical and analytical methodologies to analyze problems at the intersection of sustainability and corporate environmental responsibility. Specifically, her current work evaluates the impact of water pollution regulation and conflict with surrounding communities on a firm’s operational performance.
Sandra also enjoys teaching. Sandra has taught the Data Analytics with Optimization undergraduate-level course face-to-face and in a hybrid delivery mode at Mays Business School. She is scheduled to teach this course again in Spring 2023.
