Sharada Vadali holds a joint appointment with Mays Business School and the Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution Department at Texas A&M University. Her research is in civil infrastructure systems with a focus engineering economics, economics and logistics of transport systems, and applied micro-econometrics. She is published in journals like the Journal Transportation and Business Management, Transportation Geography, Annals of Regional Science, and Journal of Applied Econometrics, Computers and Industrial Engineering, Transportation Research Record, Transportation Research Part A, Research in Transportation Economics and other journals. She currently serves as Associate Editor of Sage’s Transportation Research Record. She is President of Economic Insights and Research, a consulting firm and in the most recent past, she was affiliated with Texas Transportation Institute at Texas A&M University. She holds a doctoral degree in Economics from Texas A&M University. Her research interests are in the areas of transportation and innovation networks and supply chains in manufacturing and other sectors, project and program evaluation, economic resilience as also economics and empirics of quality management and measurement.
Sharada has led research grants for several organizations including but not limited to Maryland Chamber of Commerce, Transportation Research Board’s Strategic Highway Research Program, National Cooperative Research Programs, University Transportation Centers, Center for Excellence, Center for Intelligent International Transportation Research, the United Soybean Board, and US Department of Transportation. She is actively involved in the Transportation Research Board and has served as project panelist on several National Academy of Science – Cooperative Research Projects. She served as co-chair of the TRB’s Transportation Economic Development Committee for 6 years from April 2014-April 2020. She is also affiliated with American Economic Association, Society for Cost Benefit Analysis, and other professional organizations.
