What We Look For
The MS-MIS program is designed for students with information systems backgrounds as well as for those with undergraduate degrees in business, engineering, science, math or other analytically oriented majors. Holding an accredited baccalaureate degree of at least four (4) years from a college, institution, or university of recognized standing, or its equivalent, guarantees consideration for admission. Prior relevant work experience is not required but is viewed favorably.
We utilize a holistic approach in evaluating applicant credentials. While we require applicants to take either the GRE or GMAT, we do not have minimum admissions standards for these tests or for student GPAs. Instead, we consider an applicant’s entire application package when evaluating credentials, including previous degree(s) and GPA(s), GRE or GMAT scores, previous work experience, letters of recommendation, and essay responses.
International applicants are required to meet the admissions standards of Mays Business School for English language proficiency:
- IELTS – minimum score of 6.0
- TOEFL – minimum score of 600 paper-based; 250 computer-based; or 100 Internet-based
- PTE – minimum score of 53
The IELTS or TOEFL requirement will be waived for applicants meeting one of the following criteria:
- score of ≥146 on the GRE verbal section
- score of ≥22 on the GMAT verbal section
- by receiving a baccalaureate degree with all four year of attendance at a U.S. college or university
Interested students can compare their profiles to our most recent class profiles and evaluate the competitiveness of their application profiles to previous applicant pools.
