Mays Undergraduate Business Program Rises to No. 13 Among Public Programs in U.S. News & World Report Rankings
Four specialty programs rank among the nation’s top-10 public undergraduate business programs.

Texas A&M University’s Mays Business School rose to No. 13 among public undergraduate business programs in the U.S. News & World Report’s 2027 Best Colleges rankings, moving up one position from last year. The rankings recognize Mays’ undergraduate business programs across core disciplines and emerging areas of study.
“These rankings are a reflection of the relentless commitment our faculty and staff bring to Mays Business School every day. Our rise in these rankings year over year tells us we are building something special,” said Dr. Nate Y. Sharp, dean of Mays Business School. “It also reflects the commitment our students bring to the classroom, to one another, and to the careers they lead after graduation.”
Mays earned top 10 public rankings in four specialty areas, representing four of its five academic departments:
- Accounting: No. 6 among public schools and No. 12 overall, each up one spot from last year.
- Management: No. 7 among public schools and No. 11 overall.
- Finance: No. 9 among public schools and No. 21 overall, up five places among public schools and up 17 places overall.
- Marketing: No. 9 among public schools and No. 13 overall, each up one spot from last year.
Mays also appeared in three specialty rankings for the first time in years:
- Management Information Systems: No. 17 among public schools, and No. 21 overall.
- Analytics: No. 16 among public schools, and No. 38 overall.
- Supply Chain Management/Logistics: No. 20 among public schools, and No. 26 overall.
“We are proud to see all of Mays’ BBA majors represented in the top 20 among public schools for specialty rankings,” said Dr. Shannon Deer, associate dean for undergraduate programs. “Whether students are studying accounting, finance, management, marketing, MIS or supply chain, they are getting a highly respected business education that is preparing them to be principled leaders who make a positive difference in the workforce and in their communities.”
Across disciplines, Mays students pair rigorous coursework with high-impact experiential education that connects classroom learning with real business challenges. Mays offers students opportunities to build practical experience through programs with a longstanding reputation such as the Professional Program in Accounting. Additionally, new and innovative programs such as Aggies in Tech and Aggies in Consulting, are designed to help students build professional relationships in highly selective fields. The Flippen Leadership Institute provides a robust suite of experiences for students across the college to develop critical leadership skills.
The undergraduate experience is also strengthened by the Aggie Network, which connects students with former students, mentors, and employers. Together, these opportunities help students apply business knowledge, develop as leaders of character, and prepare for careers across a changing business landscape. This approach reflects Mays’ broader commitment to building a better future through business.
U.S. News undergraduate business rankings are based solely on peer-assessment surveys completed by deans and senior faculty at peer institutions. For specialty disciplines, respondents may nominate up to 15 programs in each area, and programs must receive at least seven nominations to be ranked. Institutions are not required to offer a dedicated degree or concentration in a discipline to be considered, but ranked schools confirm that they offer course content in that area.
“At Mays, we are not just educating students, we are building a better future through business,” Sharp said. “We aspire to become the No. 1 public business school in America, and these rankings validate a strong position on our path to preeminence.”
