Biography

Stephen W. McDaniel is Senior Professor and Regents Professor Emeritus of Marketing. Dr. McDaniel serves as the Director of the Europe Marketing Study Abroad Program and Instructor/Mentor in the Mays Freshman Business Initiative Program. Additionally, he serves as Faculty Advisor for Freedom Ministries, Breakaway Ministries, and Starlight Aggies.

Dr. McDaniel is co-author of two books, Consumer Behavior: Classical and Contemporary Dimensions (Little, Brown, and Co., 1982) and Cases in Marketing Strategy (Merrill Publishing Co.,1984).

He has published over fifty articles in academic journals, including the Journal of Marketing, Journal of Marketing Research, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science, Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Advertising, Journal of Advertising Research, Journal of Professional Services Marketing, Journal of Business Research, and Sloan Management Review. Professor McDaniel’s research has focused mainly in the areas of marketing strategy, marketing research methodology, consumer behavior, services marketing, religious marketing, and marketing ethics.

Dr. McDaniel has conducted or coordinated market research studies for over one hundred companies and nonprofit organizations in the following areas: government services, financial services, new technologies, construction materials, professional services, conference retreats, telecommunications, transportation, and a wide variety of retailing and other service based organizations. He consulted for several years with the Federal Highway Administration and the National Association of College Bookstores.

He has been honored with several awards including the Southeastern Conference Professor of the Year Nominee from Texas A&M University (2014), Texas A&M University Bush Excellence Award for International Teaching (2012), the Mays Business School Service Excellence Award (2011), the Association of Former Students University Distinguished Achievement Award for Graduate Mentoring (2007), the Association of Former Students College Distinguished Achievement Award for Excellence in Teaching (2004), the T-Camp Namesake Recognition Award for Student Service (2000), and the Fish Camp Namesake Recognition Award for Student Service (1993).

Professor McDaniel was married to his late wife Nancy for 41 years. They have a son Brian, who is a graduate of Texas A&M, a daughter Sarah, who is a graduate of Sam Houston State University, and five grandchildren.
