Biography

Mark graduated magna cum laude from Texas A&M in 1980 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics.  After A&M, Mark graduated with honors from the Baylor University School of Law.  He began his law career in Dallas, before moving back to his hometown of Houston.  He was in private law practice as a labor and employment lawyer until late 2000.  In December 2000, Mark joined Waste Management, Inc., a Fortune 500 company.  He initially held the position as Vice President & Assistant General Counsel of Labor & Employment Law.   Mark was later promoted to Senior Vice-President of Human Resources, where he was a member of the eight-person Senior Leadership Team.

In January 2019, Mark became an Executive Professor in the Management Department at the Mays School of Business at Texas A&M where he teaches Employment Discrimination Law, Commercial Law, Corporate Governance, and Compensation Management.

Mark has been happily married for over 40 years to Sharon, whom he met at A&M (Class of ’81).  They have three grown children, the youngest of whom graduated from TAMU in December 2019.
