Sally Hughes is the director of learning quality on the Teaching and Learning Innovation Team. She joined Texas A&M University in July 2022 as manager of instructional design in the Office for Academic Innovation and later transitioned to the Mays Teaching and Learning Innovation Team.
Dr. Hughes is a dedicated instructional professional with over three decades of experience spanning higher education, the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board, K–12 school districts, and educational development. As a former teacher, consultant, instructional designer, and technology support professional, she brings deep expertise in instructional quality assurance, course review, and continuous improvement. Her work centers on developing high-quality digital learning experiences, establishing and applying quality standards, and collaborating with instructional design teams to support the mission and vision of Mays Business School and the Teaching and Learning Innovation Team through the design and delivery of preeminent, engaging, and accessible courses.
Sally earned a BS in education from the University of Texas, an M.Ed. in educational technology from Texas A&M University, and an Ed.D. in educational leadership from Lamar University. She brings extensive experience in teaching, instructional design, course quality assurance, program and project management, and technical support to her role as director of learning quality.
Her research interests include educational development, digital learning environments, user experience, adult learning, quality assurance in course design and development, and digital accessibility.
