Biography

Lisa Burton is the Director of Employer Engagement at Texas A&M’s Mays Business School. In her former role as Associate Director of Employment Services for the Texas A&M University Career Center, she worked with employers, as well as coached students to grow professionally, network effectively, and perfect their resumes since 2012. While working in the Senior Career Coordinator role for the Career Center, Lisa served a pivotal role in several initiatives including the Mays Career Closet, Career Fair Mixer and Senior Send Off, and has worked closely with faculty and staff to plan effective programming for business students. After focusing primarily on career services, Lisa has now transitioned to a role to develop opportunities for students pursuing a Master of Science in Marketing degree and employers who seek top quality talent.

Additionally, Lisa created and taught an upper level undergraduate course, “Planning Your Professional Career,” and served as Co-Faculty for the International Marketing Study Abroad course. In 2016, Lisa was honored as a Fish (Freshman Orientation) Camp namesake and was named one of the American Business Women’s Association’s (ABWA) Top Ten Business Women for 2017.

Prior to working at Texas A&M University, Lisa had an extensive and successful career in sales and marketing in the retail, special event and nonprofit areas. Lisa earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Radio-TV-Film from Sam Houston State University in 1992 and her Master of Science in Marketing degree from Texas A&M University in 2010. Additionally, Lisa holds a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management from the Bush School of Government and Public Service at Texas A&M.

In addition to her professional career, Lisa has been an active member of professional and community based organizations. Lisa has served in several leadership positions for the Leading Women Express Network chapter of ABWA and is an Advisor for ABWA’s student league at Texas A&M University. In addition to ABWA, Lisa is the Advisor for FAST (Freshmen Aggies Spreading Tradition), and the Texas A&M Student United Way. Lisa served as President of the Brazos County A&M Club in 2017 after Chairing Muster for the club for two years. Previously, Lisa has served on the board of several PTOs in the College Station Independent School District, primarily working on fundraisers.

Originally from Baltimore, MD, Lisa has called Texas home for more than 30 years and lives in College Station with her husband David. Lisa and David have three rescue pets, Phil Collins the Mustard Tiger and Kitty, both pit bull mixes, as well as a rescue cat named Julian. Lisa has two adult sons, Austin Pitts and Cameron Pitts. Lisa enjoys cycling in her free time and completed the 2019 BP MS 150 bike ride.
