Program Details

The Texas A&M Master of Science in Human Resource Management (MS-HRM) Program is a rigorous program that offers a number of unique features and benefits. Students develop competencies in the key areas of HR management through strategically specialized HRM coursework and exposure to core business components aimed to enhance overall business acumen. Our program helps students learn how to develop leaders and foster strategic thinking within organizations through various workshops and Fortune 500 executive guest speakers. Our graduates are heavily recruited for positions for both internships and full-time employment with our 18 corporate partner Fortune 500 companies in a variety of industries.

Curriculum

MS-HRM Curriculum:

Common Body of Knowledge Courses:

A general background in business courses is necessary to complete the MS-HRM program. If a student is lacking any of the Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) courses prior to starting our program, the courses must be successfully completed before a student finishes the program. The CBK courses are listed below and can be taken at any accredited institution:

  • Survey of Accounting Principles or Introductory Accounting
  • Survey of Marketing

Electives:

Students may take a graduate-level elective, if necessary, depending on previous undergraduate coursework. Suggested electives include (but are not limited to):

  • International Business Policy
  • Negotiating in a Competitive Environment
  • Managing Projects

Prerequisites

To be eligible for admission to the MS-HRM Program, applicants must meet Texas A&M University’s admissions requirements. Items considered for admission to Texas A&M include:

  • Holding a four-year baccalaureate degree or higher from a college or university of recognized standing. Degrees from institutions outside the United States are evaluated for equivalency to U.S. degrees.
  • GRE or GMAT* score (Guide on the differences between both tests)
  • Unofficial transcripts from all institutions where the student received a degree (TAMU undergraduates do NOT need to request an official TAMU transcript, unless they have received an additional degree from an outside school)
  • Grade Point Ratio (GPR)
  • Three letters of recommendation
  • Completion of two application essay questions
  • Professional résumé
  • Interview
  • Application fee
  • Two Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) classes: Principles of Accounting and Principles of Marketing. These courses can be taken after acceptance into the program but must be completed prior to finishing the program
  • English language proficiency exam (for international applicants only)

*GMAT scores required for all international applicants
