Program Benefits
Freshmen who are selected for Business Honors enter Mays Business School as Business Honors (BHNR) majors. Most Business Honors students also pursue a second business major of their choice. The Business Honors curriculum is designed to allow students to complete both majors in four years. Upon graduation, students can earn one degree (BBA) with two majors (Business Honors and a second major). Business Honors students can add a second major in Accounting, Finance, Management (4 tracks available), Management Information Systems, Marketing (5 tracks available), or Supply Chain Management as well as complete minors, certificates, and 4+1 masters programs.

What We Look For
Selection for Business Honors is highly competitive. We seek students whose academic excellence is matched by strong character, leadership skills, and teamwork.
Academic measures are used only as a threshold for review. No combination of test scores, grades, and/or class rank guarantees acceptance into the program. Co-curricular involvement and achievement is heavily weighted in the application review process (campus and community involvement, leadership, personal circumstances, etc.). Students are selected for their perceived potential to succeed both in and out of the classroom at Texas A&M based on their proven success in the high school setting.
Letters of Recommendation:
Although not required, it is highly recommended all applicants submit at least one letter of recommendation. Only letters from academic sources (teacher, coach, principal, etc.) will be considered. Letters must be processed through the Office of Admissions. Business Honors will not accept any admission document submissions. Letters of recommendation should be uploaded via the Applicant Information System or sent through the mail.
Test scores:
Students are encouraged to submit SAT/ACT scores. Scores are not required in order to be considered for or admitted to Business Honors. However, priority review is granted to applicants with an SAT/ACT score on file.
Filling Out Your Application:
It is preferred you input information regarding your extracurricular activities, community service, awards, and employment directly in the “Activities” section of the Apply Texas or Common Application, as opposed to an uploaded resume.
Eligibility Requirements:
Rank in the top 25% of your high school class. You can apply if you attend home-school or a school that does not rank. Eligibility for these students will be determined using the assigned rank given by the TAMU Office of Admissions. Students can see the quartile ranking assigned in the AIS checklist. Questions regarding assigned rank should be directed to the Office of Admissions.
You must be admitted to Mays Business School. If you are admitted to a major other than business administration (Business) your application will not be considered.
Selection Process:
The selection process for Business Honors is separate from the admission process for Texas A&M University.
Admission to the university and Mays Business School does not guarantee selection to Business Honors. All university admissions decisions are made by the Office of Admissions. Business Honors selection decisions are made on a competitive basis and sent separately from Texas A&M University admissions notifications. All decision letters will be mailed by February 15th. All decisions are final.
No additional application material is needed to apply, other than what is listed in the How To Apply section above. Your Apply Texas or Common Application and any documents submitted to the Office of Admissions (transcripts, test scores, letter of recommendation, etc.) are available to Business Honors. Please do not send any additional application material to our office. We review applications electronically and cannot accommodate supplemental documents.
Note: Business Honors is separate from the University Honors Program. It is possible to be in both or either program. Visit the University Honors Program website for more information about the program, including how to apply.
