Biography
Dr. Michael J. Scialdone holds a Ph.D. in Information Science and Technology (2014) from Syracuse University. He joined Mays Business School in Fall 2019 as a Clinical Associate Professor of Information and Operating Management. He has since expanded the Management Information Systems (MIS) curriculum with more soft skills like systems thinking, abstract reasoning, and information presentation. Dr. Scialdone has a university-wide reputation for adapting the Learning Management System to support student success. His classes (traditional and online) are known for featuring collaborative hands-on activities and dynamic presentations that use images and animations to convey challenging concepts. Dr. Scialdone has been invited to present at professional development venues; and has published about MIS pedagogy in journals and conference. His other research interests include the impact of technology qualities (e.g., user-interface design, features, affordances, etc.) in business, education, and social contexts; and the intellectual identities of information-oriented disciplines.
Dr. Scialdone has been awarded the Aaron Becker Memorial Undergraduate Teaching Award (2022, 2024, and 2025) in MIS, the MS-MIS Online Teaching Award (2023), and was nominated for the Mays Teaching Impact Award in 2024. In Fall 2025, Dr. Scialdone began a two-year appointment as a Texas A&M Innovative Teaching Fellow.
