Application Requirements

Prospective students apply to Business Honors through the ApplyTexas Admissions Application or through the Coalition Application. No additional application is needed.

To Apply

  1. Complete the Apply Texas Application or The Coalition Application to Texas A&M University. Applications open on August 1st.
  2. Select business administration (Business) as the first choice major.
  3. Select ‘YES’ to the Honors Programs Question on the application. After submitting your admissions application, please visit the Texas A&M Honors Programs website for more information regarding honors programs.
    • Please email honors@mays.tamu.edu and include your full name and UIN by Dec. 1st if any of the following apply:
      • You did not select ‘YES’ to the Honors Programs Question but would like to be considered for Business Honors.
      • Your first choice major has been changed to Business after submitting your application and you want to be considered for Business Honors.

4. Complete the Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR) using your official high school transcript. Texas residents reporting a top ten percent ranking must also provide verification of ranking by submitting an official high school transcript with a relative numeric ranking via TREx or the upload feature in AIS. For additional information about the SRAR, please contact the Office of Admissions.

**Please Note: There is no additional application needed for the Business Honors program. Completing the above steps will ensure you have applied to the program successfully.

5. It is highly recommended that all applicants submit at least one letter of recommendation directly to the Texas A&M Office of Admissions; however, it is not required. All letters of recommendation must be processed 30 days after you submit your application. Only letters of recommendation from academic sources (teachers, coaches, principals, etc.) are considered. 6. It is preferred that you provide information regarding extracurricular activities, community service, awards, and employment directly in the “Activities” section of the Apply Texas or Coalition Application, as opposed to an uploaded resume.

Deadline: All applications must be received by December 1st. Late applications will not be accepted.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the program, you must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Rank in the top 25% of high school class. (Students who are home-schooled or attend high schools that do not rank may apply. Eligibility for these students will be determined using the assigned rank given by the TAMU Office of Admissions. Students can see the quartile ranking assigned in the AIS checklist. Questions regarding assigned rank should be directed to the Office of Admissions.)
  • Be admitted to Mays Business School. If you are admitted to a major other than business administration (Business) your application will not be considered.

Applicants for fall 2021 will not be required to submit SAT or ACT scores in order to be considered for Business Honors.

Selection Process

The selection process for Business Honors is separate from the admission process for Texas A&M University. Admission to Texas A&M University as a business major does not guarantee selection to Business Honors. All Texas A&M admissions decisions are made by the Office of Admissions. Selections decisions for Business Honors are mailed separately from Texas A&M University admissions notifications.

Many factors determine admissibility to Business Honors. Our selections process consists of a holistic review of applicant information including but not limited to academic performance, involvement, leadership, service, work experience, and written essay. Submitted standardized test scores will serve as one of many elements that are holistically reviewed to determine a student’s ability to contribute to and benefit from Business Honors, but scores are not required to be admitted.

Business Honors is separate from the University Honors Program. It is possible to be in both programs, or just one or the other. Please note there are two separate application processes for these programs, one for Business Honors and one for University Honors.

Business Honors admissions decisions are made on a competitive basis with some applications being held for a final review. All decision letters will be mailed by February 15th.

All admissions decisions are final.

Aside from the requirements listed above, there are no additional application requirements for Business Honors. Selections will be made using the Apply Texas Application or the Coalition Application and all materials sent to the Office of Admissions. Please do not send any additional materials to the Business Honors office. We review applications electronically and cannot accommodate supplemental documents.
