How To Apply

Complete the following steps to apply to Business Honors:

  1. Complete the Apply Texas Application or Common Application to Texas A&M University. Applications open on August 1st.
  2. Select business administration (Business) as your first choice major.
  3. Select ‘YES’ to the Honors Programs Question on the application. Visit the Texas A&M Honors Programs website for more information regarding honors programs.
    • Email honors@mays.tamu.edu with your full name and UIN by Dec. 1st if any of the following apply:
      • You did not select ‘YES’ to the Honors Programs Question but would like to be considered for Business Honors.
      • Your first choice major has been changed to Business after submitting your application and you want to be considered for Business Honors.
  4. Complete the Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR) using your official high school transcript. Texas residents reporting a top ten percent ranking must also provide verification of ranking by submitting an official high school transcript with a relative numeric ranking via TREx or the upload feature in AIS. For additional information about the SRAR, please contact the Office of Admissions.

Deadline: Your application must be submitted and complete by December 1st. Late applications will not be accepted.

Letters of Recommendation: Although not required, it is highly recommended all applicants submit at least one letter of recommendation. Only letters from academic sources (teacher, coach, principal, etc.) will be considered. Letters must be processed through the Office of Admissions. Business Honors will not accept any admission document submissions. More information about how to submit a letter of recommendation can be found here.

Test scores: Students are encouraged to submit SAT/ACT scores. Scores are not required in order to be considered for or admitted to Business Honors. However, priority review is granted to applicants with an SAT/ACT score on file.

Filling Out Your Application: It is preferred you input information regarding your extracurricular activities, community service, awards, and employment directly in the “Activities” section of the Apply Texas or Common Application, as opposed to an uploaded resume.

Eligibility Requirements

To be considered for the program, you must meet the following minimum criteria:

  • Rank in the top 25% of your high school class. You can apply if you attend home-school or a school that do not rank. Eligibility for these students will be determined using the assigned rank given by the TAMU Office of Admissions. Students can see the quartile ranking assigned in the AIS checklist. Questions regarding assigned rank should be directed to the Office of Admissions.
  • Be admitted to Mays Business School. If you are admitted to a major other than business administration (Business) your application will not be considered.

 

Selection Process

The selection process for Business Honors is separate from the admission process for Texas A&M University. Admission to the university and Mays Business School does not guarantee selection to Business Honors. All university admissions decisions are made by the Office of Admissions.

Business Honors selection decisions are made on a competitive basis and sent separately from Texas A&M University admissions notifications. All decision letters will be mailed by February 15th. All decisions are final.

No additional application material is needed to apply, other than what is listed in the How To Apply section above. Your Apply Texas or Common Application and any documents submitted to the Office of Admissions (transcripts, test scores, letter of recommendation, etc.) are available to Business Honors. Please do not send any additional application material to our office. We review applications electronically and cannot accommodate supplemental documents.
