Internships are an essential complement to classroom experience
By requiring an internship as part of the Professional Distinction in Retailing, all of our graduates develop the necessary hands-on skills needed to understand what the retailing business is all about and if it is right for them.
A formal internship requires 300 hours of professional work and may be completed during the summer or an academic semester.
Each year, more than 100 students complete internships throughout Texas and across the nation in store management, professional sales, advertising, merchandising and wholesale.
The Retailing Career Fair, hosted each semester at Mays Business School, allows students to secure internships with the world’s largest big-box chains and independent boutiques. The career fair is often cited by students as the first point of contact with their future employers.
More than 50 major retailers actively hire interns from Texas A&M University.
