Private Label Manufacturers University Student Outreach Program

Interested in private label brands?

The Private Label Manufacturers Association (PLMA) offers an annual four-day program on the fundamentals of the store brands business in Chicago, Illinois to a small group of university students.

The program, University Outreach, includes an overview of retailing and store brands development in the U.S. and internationally, the role of store brand manufacturers and of the chains who sell them, generational marketing, eCommerce, and a hands-on store lab hosted by nearby stores with superlative private label programs. What makes the program so unique is the mentorship phase, which connects each student, one on one, for a part of a day with an exhibiting manufacturer representative, and also provides an opportunity to shadow a retail buyer as they conduct strategic business in real time.

Testimonial:

“The PLMA University Outreach Program was one of the most incredible and invaluable learning opportunities. I was able to network with influential leaders, learn about current industry trends globally, see how grocery retailers are staying competitive, and hear personal stories of triumph and success in the private label food industry. This program offered me lifelong connections, wisdom, and inspiration and I can never thank the program or the Center for Retailing Studies enough for the fantastic opportunity!”
