Haram Seo is an Assistant Professor in the Management Department at Texas A&M University. She earned her Ph.D. in Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship from the University of Minnesota.
Her research delves into the intersection of corporate philanthropy and nonmarket strategies, examining their impact on both firms and society. Specifically, she investigates the diverse ways in which firms engage in philanthropic activities and the strategic advantages these actions can confer. Additionally, her work critically assesses the social impact of corporate giving, especially in situations where actions that benefit firms may not necessarily align with broader societal interests. Her research has been published or is forthcoming in the Strategic Management Journal and Organization Science.
Haram’s scholarship has garnered significant recognition. She is a three-time recipient of various paper awards from the Strategic Management (STR) Division of the Academy of Management, including the Distinguished Paper Award in 2022 and 2018, as well as the 2019 Robert J. Litschert Award for her dissertation. Her work has also earned accolades such as the 2018 Outstanding Paper Award from the Annual Conference of the Alliance for Research on Corporate Sustainability (ARCS) and the Runner-up for the William C. Frederick SIM Doctoral Dissertation Award.
Before transitioning to academia, Haram worked as a consultant with A.T. Kearney in their Seoul office.
