Biography

Michelle Diaz is a CPA (Texas). She received her B.S. in Business Administration from Trinity University in 1996. Upon graduation, she joined Arthur Andersen, LLP as an auditor. During that time, she worked primarily on public offerings and physician practice management companies. Dr. Diaz pursued her doctoral degree at Mays Business School, graduating in 2005 and completing a post-doctoral fellowship in 2006. She then accepted a position at Louisiana State University in Baton Rouge as an assistant professor where she taught Accounting Information Systems. In 2009, she returned to Mays Business School to join the faculty as a clinical assistant professor. Both her research and teaching interests are in the areas of auditing and accounting information systems. Her research has been published in the International Journal of Human-Computer Studies, International Journal of Accounting Information Systems, Journal of Accounting Education, Journal of Information Systems and The Accounting Review. She currently serves on the editorial board of Issues in Accounting Education.  She also directs the Accounting Former Doctoral Students (AFDS) Research Conference. She has served on many different college and departmental committees in her time at Mays including leading efforts for assessment for the Mays Assessment Steering Committee through 2023.  Currently, she continues to serve as the assessment coordinator for the accounting department.
