Sally Guyton

Biography

Sally Guyton’s primary focus at TAMU is teaching and coordinating the core curriculum finance course, Business Finance (FINC 341). In addition, she advises the student chapter of the Financial Management Association which serves as an outlet for the students to explore various careers in finance. Each January, she accompanies a group of FMA students to New York City to visit the New York Stock Exchange, the NASDAQ, and various investment banks (such as J.P. Morgan and Goldman Sachs).

Sally Guyton authored both the Interactive Lecture Guide to accompany Fundamentals of Financial Management by Brigham/Houston and the Interactive Lecture Guide to accompany Fundamentals of Financial Management (Concise Edition). She participated in the review of Brigham/Houston’s 7th and 8th editions, and consults with colleagues across the nation regarding the most effective ways of teaching the core course of financial management required by all business schools.

The Finance Department nominated Sally Guyton for the Provost APT Faculty Excellence Award for 2022-23.  Awards received by Sally Guyton include a Teaching Performance Recognition Grant (2017), Honorary TAMU Tennis Coach (2014), Outstanding Panhellenic Professor Award (2013), Most Influential Professor Award (Pi Beta Phi 2013), the Craig McMahen Teaching Excellence Fellowship (2009), Association of Former Students University-Level Distinguished Teaching Award (2002), TAMU Corps Award for Teaching Excellence (2003), Superior Faculty Advisor for FMA International (2006), Outstanding Panhellenic Professor Award, Association of Former Students College-Level Distinguished Teaching Award (1997-98), Aggie Fish Camp Namesake (1998), 1998 Faculty Initiate of Phi Kappa Phi, Delta Sigma Pi Teaching Award (1995), and Texas State University National Honor Society Favorite Professor (1990, 1991, 1992, 1993).
