Biography

Chris Wilson is an Executive Professor in the Adam C. Sinn ’00 Department of Finance at Mays Business School, Texas A&M University.

Chris earned a Bachelor of Science in Economics with a minor in Accounting from Texas A&M University in 1988 and an MBA from Mays Business School in 1990. He holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designation from CFA Institute and the Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designation from the CMT Association.

He has more than 35 years of professional experience in the financial markets. He previously served as Vice President and Portfolio Manager at Merrill Lynch Investment Managers, where he managed portfolios for endowments, trusts, and high-net-worth individuals. For the past two decades, he has worked as a private investor, applying fundamental, economic, sector, and technical analysis to the financial markets.

In January 2022, Chris was appointed Executive Professor at Mays Business School. He teaches undergraduate and graduate finance courses and serves on the Steering Committee for the Master of Science in Finance (MSF) program.

By bridging practice and theory, drawing on his portfolio management experience and professional designations, he helps students connect academic concepts to real-world decisions. With the advent of tools such as AI, he places increasing importance on students’ ability to question, interpret, and challenge those answers—developing the critical thinking and judgment needed to understand what the results imply for financial analysis and decision-making.
