Tara Blasor

Biography

Tara Blasor has been a faculty member at Texas A&M for ten years. She is a Senior Lecturer in the James Benjamin Department of Accounting, and serves as Assistant Department Head of the James Benjamin Department of Accounting and a Co-Director of the Internal Audit Program.

Tara currently teaches several Accounting courses in areas such as financial reporting, accounting information systems, and auditing. She has developed courses for the MS-HRM and MS-Business programs. Tara is the recipient of numerous teaching awards, including the Association of Former Students Distinguished Teaching Award (College-Level), the Ernst & Young Teaching Excellence Award, the Baggett Teaching Excellence Award, and the MS-HRM Program Faculty Excellence Award. She was also honored as a Fish Camp namesake in the summer of 2014 (a freshman orientation camp). Her dedication to department and college have been recognized in service awards, including the Mays Faculty Service Award and the Hero of the Semester award.

She is passionate about advancing the Accounting profession and particularly the career development of her students. She has served as a board member on the Brazos Valley Chapter of the Texas Society of CPA’s since 2014, and is the Faculty Ambassador representative of Texas A&M with the Texas Society of CPA’s.

Prior to teaching at Texas A&M, Tara worked for five years in public accounting at a Big 4 firm in Dallas, where she served a number of clients/industries in both IT audit, financial statement audits, and internal audits.

Tara graduated from A&M in 2007 with an undergraduate in Accounting and masters in Management Information Systems. She is a Certified Public Accountant, Certified Internal Auditor, and Certified Information Systems Auditor.
