Costa Rica Accounting Communication

Travel to Costa Rica for 2 weeks with Accounting professor Courtney Foster and earn 2 credit hours of required course work in ACCT 421!

Students will develop cross-cultural communication skills and gain valuable on-site knowledge of the challenges and opportunities of conducting business in Costa Rica’s business environment. This program incorporates corporate/institutional visits and group cultural excursions in Costa Rica. The trip will travel all around Costa Rica so that students can have a diversified, rich, and immersive Costa Rican experience and adventure!

  • Minimum 2.5 GPA
  • Course Prerequisite: ACCT 327 with a grade of ‘C’ or better
  • Attend all fall 2022 pre-departure meetings

*Administrative fee will be billed in two (2) parts: $200 from EA and $300 from CIBS. Both fees are nonrefundable.
**Program fee includes accommodation, round-trip airfare, in-country travel, some meals, and corporate and cultural visits.
***Personal expenses includes meals not included in program fee and other non-program related expenses.

Timeline

SUBMIT PROGRAM APPLICATION

Submit your application by the September 1 deadline. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. Students will be notified of program acceptance through their A&M email address.

CONFIRM PARTICIPATION

Once acceptance email has been received, the selected participant must return to their Education Abroad Portal application and confirm their participation or withdraw their application by the CIBS deadline.

PAY ADMINISTRATIVE FEE

Students will be billed the $300 CIBS administrative fee within 1-2 weeks of confirmation. All fees should be paid by the Student Business Services (SBS) deadline to avoid late fees.

PAY PROGRAM FEE

The program fee will be billed during the fall semester. Installment plans can be utilized if enrolled before the SBS deadline.

ATTEND PRE-DEPARTURE MEETINGS

Students must attend all pre-departure meetings to discuss program details and prepare for your experience abroad. Meeting details will be shared via email by your faculty program leader.

APPLY FOR SCHOLARSHIPS

University-Wide Scholarship application deadline for winter programs is October 12 (applications open on September 10, 2022). Visit uwide.tamu.edu to apply to all university-wide eligible scholarships and financial aid.   

Mays Faculty Programs Scholarship application deadline for winter programs is November 1. Visit cibs.tamu.edu for Mays-specific scholarships.

REQUEST FINANCIAL AID SUPPORT

If your FAFSA is current, you may request an Education Abroad Financial Aid Request Form from CIBS and meet with the Scholarships & Financial Aid office to request additional funding support for the program.

Students will deliver a final presentation and be given opportunities to share their transformational global experience and recruit future students to Go Global with Mays!
