International Business Ethics and Sustainability Case Competition

Mays Business School is recruiting a team of four undergraduate students for the International Business Ethics and Sustainability Case Competition (IBESCC). The IBESCC will be held as a hybrid event during the week of April 4th-8th.

The virtual portion of the competition will take place April 4-5 on Zoom. The in-person portion will be held at Loyola Marymount University from April 7th-8th, with an opening dinner on April 6. The Awards ceremony and dinner will be held in the evening on April 8th, when winners of both the online and in-person divisions will be announced.

Day 1 for both the in-person and virtual divisions will consist of the 25-minute competition, where teams will present a business problem of their choosing, give a full presentation analyzing the ethical, sustainable, legal and financial aspects of a problem, and present a solution that is viable on all fronts.

On Day 2, teams will incorporate the suggestions given the by judges during the 25-minute presentation and give a 10-minute presentation on the ethical aspect of the problem and a 90-second elevator pitch explaining the importance of the sustainability component of the problem.

Currently, this event will be held in-person. However, COVID-19 and travel restrictions may alter the event to run virtually. A final decision on in-person or virtual event will be communicated by December 1, 2021.

*This competition requires international travel and a valid passport. Students without a valid passport will be financially responsible for obtaining a passport prior to departure. The approximate cost for a passport is $110.


TIMELINE

NOVEMBER 23 2021

Competition application deadline. Initial review of student application review begins.

NOVERMBER 29 – DECEMBER 2, 2021

Applicants will be contacted via their Texas A&M email address (provided through their application) to schedule interviews and applicant presentations to be considered for the team.

DECEMBER 3, 2021

Students are notified of selection and invitation to join the team.

DECEMBER 5, 2021

Team meet and greet dinner.

*We will have other social activities for the participants to ensure that they connect and get to know each other.
